Starting this week, Merrill Lynch clients will be able to use their Merrill Lynch mobile app to scan paper documents and send them to their financial advisors. The new scan feature uses the device’s camera to capture images of each page and convert them into a single PDF file that customers can securely send to their Merrill Lynch advisor.

In March, Merrill Lynch customers with Bank of America accounts gained access to a new budgeting and spending tool that tracks expenses to make budgeting easier. Accessible through MyMerrill.com and the MyMerrill mobile app, it provides dynamic spending comparison, describes spending trends over the past 13 months, and allows users to easily set budgets. Expenses can be tracked across 14 expense categories (for example, household and utilities, groceries, and travel) and 62 sub-categories with the ability to customize preferred categories.

With the new “Costs and Budgets” tool, customers can:

  • Classify and track expenses for all accounts linked to Bank of America and Merrill Lynch.
  • View spending patterns and identify expenses that exceed the expected average.
  • View and edit account activities by category.
  • Manage your finances on a daily basis.
  • Set a budget.
  • Identify ways to save money.
